KIRKCALDY KESTRELS have announced another signing as James Cunningham confirmed his return ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old is going in to his fourth season with the Kestrels after joining back in 2012 following his junior days at roller hockey.
He’s the type of player who plays along the boards and likes to play the body, finishing his hits when he can and takes no prisoners.
Cunningham was delighted to return to the Kestrels and he admits it was hard not to return to the SNL champions.
He said: “I am delighted to be returning to the team this year and after the successful season we had last year, it was hard for me not to want to return.
“I really want to try and push on this year in my own game, contributing more on the ice and hopefully we can have another successful season.
“We have a great bunch of boys here, who all get on really well together, but when it comes to game time we know what our jobs are, then we go out and win as a team.”
During his time at the Kestrels, James has had to adapt his style of play as he made the transfer from roller to ice.
The winger has taken a little time to get used to the bigger pad and especially the big ice in Fife, but he has progressed during his time with the club.
The Kestrels coaches are looking to see James contribute on the points board and more at both ends of the ice and are glad to him back for this season.
