DANIEL ABERCROMBIE doesn’t believe his North Ayrshire Wild side are the in-form team at the moment – but admits they can’t afford to underestimate their opponents.
Wild have picked up full points and scored plenty of goals in their last two games, with Abercrombie himself weighing in with eight goals in his last three matches.
But he’s also quick to credit his own success to the work of his team-mates.
He said: “It’s good to be hitting the back of the net but takes the support of good team mates to get it in front of the net.
“Looking back, we had a slow start to the season. The team was full of young players, but we’ve have now added a bit more experience and more depth which I feel has shown in the last few games.
“We’ve had a couple of good wins, but I don’t see us as the on-form team and I take every game as a hard game. I certainly don’t underestimate the others teams ability.
“When your on a winning streak it makes the other team more determined.”
Solway Sharks are heading to Auchenharvie as the Wild look to extend their winning run to three on Saturday in one of three games taking place.
Jamie Kerr’s side haven’t played for three weeks and the youngsters that make up the Dumfries side will be keen to get back on track.
Abercrombie doesn’t believe that will be an issue when the teams meet up and believes his side are capable of competing with the rest of the SNL.
He added: “I’m sure they have been working hard at training this last few weeks and have a game plan when they come to Auchenharvie.
“Any team in the league is difficult to play. All teams have development programmes including the current champions Kirkcaldy, who we proved we could beat last week.
“Looking back, we had lots of uncertainty and changes probably didn’t help the team moral, but that seems a long time ago.
“Now we’ve bonded and I think we are a team that are able to compete against any team in the league.”
