KIRKCALDY KESTRELS are delighted to announce the return of defenceman Rudi Cairns for his seventh season with the club.
The 6ft 2in, 210lb defenseman has been a regular figure at the back for the Kirkcaldy Kestrels after joining back in 2009.
Rudi is currently one (of two) of our longest serving players since the club reformed back in 2009 and the big D-man’s key strengths are keeping the game simple and the front of the net tidy.
And he revealed the club’s recent success was a major factor in persuading him to return for another season.
He said: “I’ve been with the club for a long time now and I’ve have been lucky enough to win the league twice.
“I have also been runner up in the league and in the last three years made the play-off quarter finals, semi finals and finally won it last season which isn’t too shabby.
“We have always had a good bunch of boys here at the club and have always competed well because we work really hard for each other.
“The past few seasons have been immense and last season was obviously fantastic. It was a real highlight year for me personally as well as the club.
“Coming back to the Kestrels was a ‘no brainer’ and I want to continue where we left off last season.”
The big D-man is not renowned for his points tally as he likes to sit back slightly on the play and take a more defensive role.
Rudi is mentioned is a key player in the Kestrels line up and has been for the six seasons he has been with the club and will continue to do so again.
