The 33-year-old has spent his entire hockey life within the Tigers set-up, starting as a youngster at the old Dundee and Angus Ice Rink.
He notched six goals and four assists last season while he amassed a whopping 99 penalty minutes in his 24 appearances.
On his return, Steven said: “It’s great to be back for another season and it’s a fantastic club to be involved with.
“We’ve built real rivalries throughout the league and recently we’ve had some great battles with Aberdeen Lynx so it’s exciting to be starting the season against them in the Autumn Cup.
“It doesn’t get any better than the Dundee Derby though and I can’t wait for our home game against the Comets on the 27th December.
“There’s a whole lot of hockey to play before then though and I’m looking forward to that puck dropping next month.”
