NEWS: Scotland Under 19’s announce two fixtures ahead of England clash

SCOTTISH ICE HOCKEY are delighted to announce the Under 19’s side will play two matches to prepare for the Conference weekend in early May.

With the big weekend coming up, two warm up matches have been arranged to give head coach Steven Lynch’s side the best possible preparation ahead of the clash with England on 29th April.

Ahead of the meeting at Ice Sheffield, the Under 19’s will take on the SNL champions Kirkcaldy Kestrels on Saturday, 23rd April at Fife Ice Arena.

Then they’ll face an SNL Select, coached by Steven Wishart and Davie Smith on Sunday, 24th April at Murrayfield as they round up a big weekend before heading to Sheffield.

Head coach Lynch says the games will give his young guns the best possible advantage ahead of the annual game.

He said: “I’ve said before we have a team that’s very competitive and I still think it’s the best Scottish Under 19’s team we’ve seen in a few years.

“Having these two games will give us the sort of test I’m looking for and will serve us well before we take on England at Conference a week later.

“My co-coach Scott Plews, assistant coach Iain Robertson and I are looking forward to seeing what our players can do against the SNL champions and we’ll take a lot from that game.

“Then we play an SNL Select, which gives us an opportunity to try things and see at first hand what our players have and help in how we approach the England game.

“They’re going to be two very competitive games and the sort of preparation we need before what is always a massive game every years and we’re all looking forward to them.”

Saturday’s match at Fife Ice Arena will face off at 7.45pm with prices at £6 for adults and £3 for concessions while Sunday’s game at Murrayfield is a flat £5 for all, face off at 6pm.
