THERE’S only one game to complete the weekend on Sunday and it could be fireworks on Fife as we look ahead to a potential cracker in the Kingdom.
KIRKCALDY KESTRELS vs PAISLEY PIRATES
Sunday, 6.45pm, Fife Ice Arena
BY the time this game takes place, Kestrels will have played Aberdeen Lynx and one way or another, could have a bearing on this home clash with Paisley pans out.
One thing is certain, Kirkcaldy need four points from the entire weekend to get their title defence back on track and at home, have two wins from two in the league.
As for Paisley, with cup commitments to follow, including a return to Fife for their Scottish Cup quarter final in a fortnight, they’ll want to sign off on their league programme for the time being with two points.
Some terrific home results against Kestrels, Edinburgh Capitals and Aberdeen Lynx recently have buoyed the team, but they need to start showing it away from home.
Getting a win at the ‘auld barn’ would wound Kirkcaldy’s hopes of a successful title defence, but significantly boost Paisley’s hopes of reclaiming a title they last won in 2013.
An intriguing encounter awaits.
