Dundee Comets 2 Moray Typhoons 0
DUNDEE COMETS got their SNL campaign off a terrific start as they defeated and shut out Moray Typhoons, who are still without a league win.
Moray were under the cosh for the first period and much of the second, at least if the shots on goal stats are to be believed and goalie Craig Johnstone was in fine form.
Comets finally got the breakthrough as Willie Nicolson scored just past the halfway mark, with the Tayside outfit finally making their shots count.
Typhoons, with only 13 players, soon lost Stuart Ferguson, who was ejected from the game for head-butting, stretching their resources even further.
The lead was finally doubled as Craig Findlay scored a blistering slap shot that flew past Johnstone, making life that little bit easier for the home side as they claimed their first two points of the campaign.
Afterwards, coach Rab Brown said: “It was a frustrating game for us, but I am pleased with the way the guys dealt with it.
“We didn’t lose focus on the task at hand, and ended up comfortable winners, although not in the prettiest fashion.
“Moray’s goalie brought his ‘A’ game and made some fantastic saves. His man of the match award was more than deserved.”
