SOLWAY SHARKS 5 PAISLEY PIRATES 6
SCOTT COWAN’S goal with eight minutes to go was enough to seal the points for Paisley Pirates at Dumfries and a place in the play-offs.
Solway’s winless was extended to six after this game and it’s going to be a fascinating end to the race for the top eight as they sit a point behind Moray Typhoons, who beat them on Saturday.
Both these sides traded goals early as Scott Henderson’s opener was cancelled out by Tom Johnston, before Henderson struck again to give the Sharks a 2-1 lead.
Paisley had equalised by the end of the first period as Martyn Guy scored on the powerplay after Jamie Kerr was three seconds from returning to the game on a high sticking call.
The Pirates took the lead with two early second period goals as David Orr and Johnston’s second put them 4-2 ahead, but Luke Houston pulled one back just after the half hour mark.
Fraser Campbell had the two-goal gulf restored by the end of the second and although Henderson completed his hat-trick in the third, Cowan’s finish did the job.
Connor Speirs made it a one-goal game with a finish with five minutes to go, but the Sharks couldn’t push on, as Paisley left Dumfries with the points.
