PAISLEY PIRATES 4 NORTH AYRSHIRE WILD 2

PAISLEY PIRATES moved to within two points of Kirkcaldy Kestrels and have a game in hand on the league leaders after being North Ayrshire Wild 4-2 at Braehead Arena.

For Wild, although their title hopes were hanging in the balance, this defeat officially ended their interest as well as their league season, with the play-offs next for Stevie Andrews’ men.

Allan Maitland struck first for the visitors, but Pirates levelled in the second period through Fraser Campbell before Scott Cowan put them in front.

A powerplay goal by Michael Dobson tied the game up at 2-2, but Paisley pushed on as Stuart Millar nabbed what proved to be the game winning goal.

Then Chris Wilson made the points safe shortly after as the Pirates’ run of good form continued with their ninth win in their last ten games now.
